Go Discover Flyboard events in Portugal!

Go Discover Portugal was one of the first to start promoting the fantastic sport of flyboard in Portugal and is excited to see the sport growing and evolving. Now one of the most popular water activities in Portugal, big events are including it as a menas of excitement and entertainment for all types of occasions. Recently Go Discover Portugal has had the honor of organizing a flyboard event for TVI, one of the main TV channels of Portugal. The participants had no prior experience in flyboard and the results were both interesting and diverse!

The Location for this event, Cascais Marina!

Flboard events can be organized in any water big enough to allow it. The chosen location, Cascais, seemed the most logical location for this particular event. Cascais, a small coastal town just 30KM west of Lisbon is the center of the wonderful Riviera of Portugal. Its luxurious and decadent beaches, hotels and marina make it the perfect spot for both lavish and adventurous events.

The objective

TVI, one of Portugal’s largest television channels, brought in 3 celebrities with no prior Flyboard experience. These celebrities were taken on this adventure to test their persistence in the fresh harbor waters of the Cascais marina. 2 women and one man with various ages and backgrounds. We added to the group a fifteen year old enthusiast, also without any prior experience,  to get a real sense of flyboard and its difficulties and challenges. He “flew” within minutes!

The outcome of first time flyboarding

Balance, its all about balance. Most partakers spend roughly 5 minutes finding it before managing the “fly”, with the exception of our 15 year old who seemed to be a born and talented flyboarder from the very first instance.
Persistence, the most persistent seemed to achieve greater heights and have more fun. Fail, restart and try again seemed to be the main theme in this activity.
Difficulty level, although not as easy as professional flyboarders make it look, each of the participants managed to fly above the water at least 2 times in the short sessions they had and some flew at least 5 – 6 times managing to stay about the water for minutes on end.

Flyboard event summarized

Flyboard as a show for events during the day or at night organized by our professional Zapata fly boarding team is an amazing way to add excitement to any event close to water deep enough to allow flyboard. Our team performs amazing tricks alternating between flights as high as 15 meters above the water and diving like dolphins. They perform pirouettes, salto’s and dance like tricks that will impress most onlookers.
They have the capacity to take people who hve never performed flyboard up with them putting the chosen ones in the limelight of any show.
Partakers in flyboard will always be based on smaller groups as each needs at least 15 minutes of this activity to fully get the experience but its one that will be remembered and repeated by most.
