“Quinta do Vallado wine hotel Duoro region is one of the oldest and most famous wine producers in the Douro region“
Quinta do Vallado is a beautiful Manor house hotel set in one the most famous wine production farms in the Douro valley, established in 1716.
It once belonged to the legendary Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, and still belongs to her descendents. It lies on both banks of the Corgo River, a tributary of the Douro river, near its mouth, close to the town of Peso da Régua.
Quinta do Vallado main activity for almost 200 years has been the production of Port wines for the Ferreira brand.
Moving from the centuries-old tradition of selling the farm´s production to the Ferreira Portwine House, in 1993, under the direction of Guilherme Álvares Ribeiro and his wife Maria Antónia Ferreira, the company decided to extend the business towards the production, bottling and marketing of own-label wines.
In this period also started a complete restructuring of the vineyards.
The construction of the new winery and barriques cellar, started in 2008 and concluded in the fall of 2009, combines state of the art technology with a high quality architecture project, making it one of the places to visit in the Douro valley.
Since 2005 Quinta do Vallado has a confortable Wine Hotel with 13 rooms:
5 of the rooms are in the old Manor House from 1733 and these were recently refurbished;
8 are in the new building built in 2012 and designed by Arq. Francisco Vieira de Campos . In this new project the slate ( predominant in the soil of the region ) was the main material used
Facilities – Air conditioning, Wi fi, satellite tv, iPAD, main meals ( with advance booking), light meals in the swimming pool, billiard room, massage.
The hotel organizes many extra activities such as wine tasting, canoeing, bycicling, jeep tours, fishing, boat tours and snooker.
