Praia Fluvial do Penedo Furado is another nice cultivated river swimming area in the Vila de Rei district. De swimming area is built in the river ‘Rio Cabecinha’ as small river coming in from the Castelo do Bode lake.

The swimming area is busily visited on hot days and mostly suited to children, even though there are some slightly deeper parts toward the end of the cultivated area, none is to deep for an average size adult to stand in.
The ground has been filled with a cement stone filling making it easy to walk in the water, there are some large stones on the side that allow being used as slides, which the kids use fervently!

Penedo Furado, a nice swimming area made for relaxing parents and busy water loving kids

At the beginning it is so shallow that even 3 year old children can play in safely and when we there, there where lifeguards monitoring all activity in the waters.

There are barbecues and stone tables, toilettes and showers and a small bar selling ice-cream and refreshments.
Access to this beach is very good, there is a large, free parking area. The beach is roughly 10km south of Vila de Rei.

Certainly for people with children this is a very good beach, for walkers there are many paths along the river that make a perfect nature walk in this amazing district.
