A Taverna is a typically local tavern located in the small town of Santa Cita close to the City of Tomar and the Castelo do Bode lake. The tavern is over 100 years old and was originally a house owned by a lady who knitted clothes for the villagers.
After it became a tavern it became the central meeting point for the district and it still has that function today.
The tavern is lively and serves regional wines, beers and liquors and a good selection of petiscos (tapas).
The tavern also has a private room and serves meals on reservation.
We found the tavern by accident on one of our travels due to car problems and we where received in such a nice way by the owner that we had to include the tavern on Go Discover Portugal. In the winter you can enjoy the warmth of the large fireplace and in the summer the cool of this old building or the terrace outside.
Combined with a trip to Tomar or after swimming or sport in the Castelo do Bode place, visit the tavern for relaxing or socializing, You’ll be well taken care of!
