Adega Mayor, Wine tasting and wine activities, Alentejo is located on the border of Spain just above Badajoz in the upper Alentejo region of Portugal.
The vineyards enjoy a privileged and easy to access location, as it is only 2 driving hours from Lisbon, 3 hours from Faro and 3.5 hours from Madrid.
The vineyards where abandoned for 6 decades before the Adega Mayor under the guidance of passionate leadership was recovered starting in 1997.

In 2003 the architect Siza Vieira was contracted to create the building, inspired by the nature and the clear lines of the plain, he created a modern, functional and accessible building.

INSERTED IN HERDADE DAS ARGAMASSAS, HERDADE DA GODINHA AND MONTE DA PINA
The blue Grape varieties grown are ALICANTE BOUSCHET, ARAGONEZ, CASTELÃO, MOSCATEL ROXO, TOURIGA FRANCA, TOURIGA NACIONAL, TRINCADEIRA and the white grape ALVARINHO ROUPEIRO, ANTÃO VAZ, ARINTO, GALEGO DOURADO, SERCIAL, VERDELHO
The wines produced are CABERNET SAUVIGNON, MERLOT, PETIT VERDOT PINOT GRIS, PINOT NOIR, SYRAH and VIOGNIER
The quinta produces top quality wines many of which are exported.
For wine events the Adega offers wine tasting, vineyard and winery visits, customized tours, wine workshops, picnics in the vineyards, grape harvest experiences (early autumn), team building and orienteering events.
