Canyoning São Miguel, Azores, Portugal is an adventurous and energizing way to discover the largest of the Azores island, São Miguel, known locally as the green island. The island is covered in canyons, caves and waterfalls and lends itself perfectly for the exciting canyoning sport.
Canyoning consists of climbing, sliding and swimming through this wonderful landscape and we now have 6 different canyoning routes available for even the absolute beginner accompanied by a professional instructor that always takes safety as a first priority.

Ribeira dos Caldeirões – Full day including transport and pick nick lunch

After this you will walk about 20 minutes to the entry point of the stream. Before commencing you receive the safety briefing.
In addition to walking and wading your way through the water, you will be introduced to abseiling (about 8 meters), jumps and slides, the challenge extends to the waterfalls, in a most closed area of the stream. The entire day is about fun and accessible to all of good health and happy spirit!

During the canyoning, there is a sequence of 3 (waterfalls) which we will descent with the technique of abseiling (highest waterfall is roughly 10 meters), the abseiling will be alternated with short walking distances in an area surrounded by lush vegetation and where we can still admire an old hydroelectric plant. After a short stop for picknick on the shores of the stream, we continue through a deeper canyon, higher waterfalls that finish in the well-known Salto do Cabrito waterfall!
