Casita D`avó restaurant, Golegã – Portugal it’s a traditional and regional restaurant in the heart of Golegã.
The main owner and grand son of the former old lady, decided to recover this cosy and confortale little restaurant in memory to his grand mother who live here her entire life. He shared with us that in the old days sometimes even rain inside. After his grand mother died he order the recovery of the entire space and created here Casita D`avó restaurante, Golegã – Portugal.
At Casita D`avó restaurant, Golegã – Portugal Mr. Carlos Barreto offers traditional and regional fish and meat dishes, but also a unique delicatesse called Cardos Cagarrinhas. These are wild thorn plants that only apear once a year during the months of March until end of May. During this period, Mr. Carlos walks through the mountains of Ribatejo in the search for this plant. Once he finds the cardos cagarrinhas, he removes the thorns and coocks in water. After that he adds red beans and coocks it all toguether and serves it as soup.
From all restaurants we have visited in Portugal, this is the only restaurant serving this delicatesse is Casita D`avó restaurant, Golegã – Portugal
