Cooking and nature hotel in Alvados is a concept hotel set in the Serra dos Candeeiros mountains roughly 100km above Lisbon. Its a relatively new hotel that integrates with the overwhelming nature of its surrounding mountains with grace and integrity.
Imagine yourself in one of the most beautiful valleys of Portugal, in the heart of the Natural Park of Aire and Candeeiros Mountains, where you can breathe deep rural environment of the Alvados village.
Its dry stone walls and oaks intertwine with the ancestral olive groves still managed by the sparse local population in the old tradition. Here, in the autumn, you will be able to observe the flight of the golden eagle, collect delicious mushrooms and listen to the calls of Eagle Owl, in the spring the mountains come to live with burst of flowers and wildlife as nature awakens after the short Portuguese winter break when you can observe the majesty off the waterfalls as the waters find their ways down th mountain. Summer is the time for early morning hikes, long hot summery blissful afternoons and the busty flutter of many of the 300 butterflies that inhabit the mountains.
