The beach of Furadouro is a few kilometer from the lovely, traditional town of Ovar, a town mostly known for a delicacy called  Pão de ló and its amazing antique tiled facades just 40km from Porto`s city center. The Furadouro boutique hotel was built from the ground by its current owners in a perfect seaside location in front of one of the nicest and longest beaches in the area, the beach of Furadouro.

During daylight hours the halls, bedrooms and spa are lite with natural light, going from the principal that natural light is healthier and sustainable as a source of energy, a concept well established in Asia but not yet much practiced in our Western society.  Portuguese light is strong and in traditional architecture it is mostly blocked from entering indoors however the architecture of the hotel has allowed for the filtering of its best aspects creating a peaceful and pleasant atmosphere throughout the entire hotel.

At night the light and water heating systems are supported by solar panels which have gathered energy during the daylight hours, all appliances used in the hotel are in the A category for energy consumption, taps and flow systems are regularized to avoid water waste and hazardous substances used in the cleaning of the hotel are avoided or replaced with Eco friendly alternatives.

All products in the hotel are based on reusable packaging  and contain products of natural ingredients, the restaurant serves only the best natural produce.

Lights and electricity turn of automatically as you leave your room and on as you come back. All materials used in the beds are natural allowing for a comfortable night thats not too hot or cold at any time of the year. The rooms have a coffee machine, minibar, safe to protect valuables, hairdryer, free wifi, extra blankets, robe, slippers, TV with all available channels and room service. The walls, windows and doors are well isolated against sound maintaining a peaceful atmosphere.

The hotel  has 27 rooms of which some face the sea and others face an apartment courtyard to the back. The rooms to the back dont have the sea view or balcony but do provide privacy and peace.

All rooms are simple in decoration and subtle in design, using only quality materials, All in this hotel is about balance, aesthetic balance, environmental balance, the balance of taste, relaxation, a mix of Eco awareness and the modern demands.

For families with small children there is a family suite (large kingsize bed with revertable coach and free cot) families with older children can use two double rooms with a connecting internal door. Honeymooners can receive a special room decorated to celebrate this lovely occasion.

The spa is a small spa that has many great treatments all inspired by relaxation and rejuvenation . There are many treatments available from massage to beauty treatments soon we will add all options.

The spa makes use of relaxing music and changing colored light all to advance the feeling of complete and total relaxation, mentally and physically.

To keep the atmosphere quiet and safe for all, children under the age of 16 are not allowed to use it though when the spa is empty exceptions are sometimes made when a child is in the the company of an adult.

As a parent take into consideration that children’s bodies are not equipped to deal with temperature changes as quickly as adults can, we advice strongly not to allow them access to the sauna or Turkish bath facilities.
