Paddle boarding is one of the funniest, fastest growing water activities of the moment. Its accessible to all ages and makes a great pastime for families, wanting to spent some good quality time together.
Family Day paddleboarding the Algarve comes complete with transfers from your accommodation (anywhere between Lagos, Sagres and Aljezur**) from where we’ll drive you to one of our beautiful Standup paddleboard locations right in the heart of the Natural Park. This will ideally be at a river or lagoon just behind the beaches of Bordeira or Amoreira on the west coast, where the water is calm and warm, perfect and safe to learn SUP.
For those who already have experience there is also a caves and coast tour available.
In this family day you will learn all the SUP basics and safety techniques and you’ll spend plenty of time practising on the water! We also have wetsuits and buoyancy aids if required. All you need to bring is a towel, swimming costume and sunscreen.
The sport of SUP consists of standing and balancing on top of a huge surfboard (ie. the SUP board) while using a paddle to move forward, turn and manoeuvre it around. It provides quite a challenge, though much easier and safer than surfing and gives you an advantage point of view over the water, ocean and surf letting you see really far, but also letting you see what lies underneath the surface, like fish, corals and rocks. Making it ideal for touring and exploring the local wildlife, rivers, lagoons, coastline, grottoes, cliffs, hidden beaches and even catch a couple of waves too!
