The most magical venue for gala and dinners in Sintra – the magnificent royal Pena Palace, palace in the clouds
The National Palace of Pena stands at the highest point of the Sintra mountain range, from where you can enjoy a sublime landscape on the surrounding hills and on the Atlantic Ocean. The Palace was in the nineteenth century the private residence of King Ferdinand II, who acquired, remodeled and expanded an old Manueline convent, whose cloister and chapel still remain today. The king’s interventions transformed this place of religious seclusion into a fairy-tale castle that evokes the architecture of the Middle Ages.
SPACES AVAILABLE
Sala de Veados (for corporate dinners and, exceptionally, for company lunches)
This space corresponds to a Hall of Knights of the imaginary medieval castle that the Palace of Pena intends to recreate. It evokes the typical activities of medieval nobility: war, through simulated stucco weapons; and the hunting, by deer heads in plaster with true frames. Here is exposed the collection of glass and stained glass of D. Fernando II, with objects from the center of Europe and highlighting the oldest stained glass that is in Portugal. The room gives access to two terraces, one facing the west with a magnificent view of the sea, another facing the Palace.

Its demolition at the end of the 20th century made it possible to reveal the robust vaulted structure with pillars and stone arches, similar to the old stables on the lower floor, which is the present Lodge.
