In the Covilhã region, the ski resort in the heart of Serra da Estrela is the only ski resort in Portugal. It is set in higher ground of the Serra Estrela and is much loved during the winter months for skiing and other snow activities.
It is a small ski resort with 4 ski lifts and 130 metres (426 feet) of vertical descent. Serra da Estrela has 9 pistes with a total length of 7.7 kilometers (5 miles).
Serra da Estrela ski Portugal is best suited to families and the beginning Ski-er and snowboarder but there is some terrain for both expert and intermediates. For snowboarders, there is a special terrain park.
