The Solar do Castelo, Boutique hotel, Lisbon is the only hotel situated in the most unique location of Lisbon within St. George’s Castle walls. The castle is build on the highest point of Lisbon, at the top of Alfama and it overlooks the largest part of Lisbon and over the Tagus river.

Solar Do Castelo is a small Mansion built on the site of the former Alcaçova Palace. With two floors and a mansard, an inner courtyard and garden, the largest part of the furniture was specially designed for the hotel in a Medieval Contemporary style. Keeping the authentic medieval feel that this hotel deserves, the rooms are all modernized and provide all amenities to current comfort standards.

The Solar do Castelo is member of the historic hotels of Europe and it was built in the XVIII century, last renovation was in 2001 and it has a first class hotel rating.

Its location and style make it one of the most romantic small boutique hotels in the world and even though the surrounding are quiet, set within the castle walls it gives the impression of a secluded and peaceful retreat, the busier, lively, cobble stoned medieval streets of Alfama, with its bars, shops and restaurants start a few steps away.
