Barquinha is an old village right on the shore of the Tagus hosting the second oldest bullfighting ring in Portugal.
By itself the village, even though pretty is not a big tourist destination but it has created a large art park in which you can relax and your kids can play in life size art pieces.
And the town has more than the average amount of interesting restaurants.
It has a strategic setting close to Entroncamento and the main highway exits and is just a view kilometers from Golega and the famous Castelo do Almourol.
In the last years the town has invested hugely in a more modern tourism mainly in the large art park along the Tagus.
One amazing place you will also find here is the parachuting club Os Boinas Verdes. The club is owned and run by a highly experienced group of parachutist that love to take to the air above Vila Nova da Barquinha.
They offer courses and individual jumps to all levels of experience.
