Clube do Fado, Fado restaurant Lisbon is located in the famous old neighbourhood of Alfama. The area is slightly touristic and Clube do Fado is one off the larger fado restaurants in this area of down town Lisbon.
The restaurant is much loved for its quality of the Fado singers it hosts and even though slightly more expensive than some of the smaller more local Fado restaurants (approximately 80 € for a couple having dinner) the quality of the music, the possibility for larger groups and the traditional food make it a much loved venue even to the locals.
““Fado” is the most famous expression of the Lisbon’s soul music, and whose roots go back to the old and so unique quarter of Alfama. The “CLUBE DE FADO” is exactly located in Alfama, on a very old building, that was in the past a Palace’s stable.
Featuring the traditional Portuguese gastronomy, based on the most tasty recipes, this fantastic restaurant is considered by the locals, the best in town, where Fado, toghether with excellent food, really make the difference. Mário Pacheco, the owner, is also considered one of the best portuguese guitar performers, and just to listen to his music is worthwhile going there.”
