Oxalá restaurant in Ovar opened its doors for the first time in 1991 and quickly became a legend under restaurants in the district.
Oxalá is a Portuguese verb which originated from the original Arabic wa-šā’ allāh which translates to `if God is willing` but it is generally understood in the Portuguese language as `hopefully` or `I wish it so`.
Oxalá restaurant is set roughly 2 km from Ovar on the Ribeiro Ovar facing a yacht harbor. It is a modern building that inside has been given a traditional wine cellar feel. Most impressive is the large long wine cellar which seems to be a sophisticated and atmospheric celebration of the excellent regional wines.
The restaurant is famous for it`´s fresh fish dishes, it`s generous portion, it`s famous and unique selection of wines and it`s friendly and professional attention to detail. Certainly a restaurant we suggest on your next visit to the Porto district.
As the restaurant is excellent and very popular we suggest reservation for groups reservation is obliged!
