The Railway Museum Entroncamento was recently opened and for anybody interested in the history of trains and the railways of Portugal and Europe its the only one of its type in Portugal.
Entrocamento a small town in Central Portugal and literally translated the name means junction and it is in this town that all the railways of Portugal connect and traveling through Portugal by train this will often be the town where you will take connecting trains on your way to your destination. The museum is based right next to the station and makes an interesting diversion on your travel and a good reason to visit the town.
The National Railway Museum is a space for the sharing of knowledge and the research of cultural heritage and the historical, symbolic and technological role of rail transport in Portugal.
“This is an international scope Museum, which to tell Railway history in Portugal leads us to a unique perspective of the history of Europe and the world. Technical, art and science intersect with the narratives of the Companies, Groups and Individuals. The railway has blazed new territory, created cities, called more or less distant communities, new jobs created and maintained and needs, it changed the way of seeing the world.”
